transitive 'think'

I've sometimes seen the verb took the object without any preposition that usually goes with the verb, 'about, of.' One of the sentences I saw is something like,
'Why are you thinking that?'
I would probably use one of the prepositions 'about' or 'of.' My dictionary shows another example.
'If you want to make money, you've got to think money.'
I don't understand the difference after I've read all the definition.
