Hello,

Is encircle an intransitve or transitive verb? Or rather can it be used intransitively, as in "The lions encircle."

Thanks a lot,

Hi Mister Micawber,

Is The lions circled warily intransitive?

Thank you.

Do you see any object in that sentence?

Hi Mister Micawber,

1. I don't see the object. Then it is intransitive. Is it still the same: "The lions circled"

2. a) He stands third in her class / He stands high in reputation / He stands on his earlier offer.

>> He is the subject, is "in her class" an object, so this should be transitive, but why dictionary says it is intransitive.

Thank y

No, no. 'In her class' is an adverb. 'High' is a predicate adjective.

'Stands on' needs more analysis: it may be classified as a transitive phrasal verb, or 'on his earlier offer' may be just another adverb.

The subsequent time I read a weblog, I hope that it doesnt disappoint me as much as this one. I imply, I know it was my option to learn, however I actually thought youd have something interesting to say. All I hear is a bunch of whining about something that you can repair should you werent too busy on the lookout for attention. free hosting free domai
