Transition Question?

Is using "however" a good transition between the sentences, or is there a better word or phrase?
Soon thereafter, Crysania traveled to the town of Solace with the kender hero Tasslehoff Burrfoot to get Raistlin’s twin brother, Caramon Majere, to assist her on the journey to the Tower of High Sorcery in Wayreth. However, Crysania did not know that Caramon had fallen into a state of depression since he felt unneeded by anyone, particularly his brother. Caramon’s wife, Tika, made him assist the young cleric rather than letting her go by herself on the dangerous journey to the Tower.

"However" is good transitional word, if your focus is on Crysania. So, the first sentence is about Crysania traveling. The second sentence is about what Crysania knew (or did not know).

  • "However" is good transitional word, if your focus is on Crysania.
  • So, the first sentence is about Crysania traveling.
  • The second sentence is about what Crysania knew (or did not know).
  • In order to keep this focus, I would reword the third sentence, which currently seems to have shifted its focus to Tika.
