Transition??

This is from my class essay...





...this is actually true because illegal immigrants contribute to the American economy by working for lower wages and by paying taxes. But, although illegal immigrants and their children are bringing benefits to this nation’s economical status, tax dollars should not be used to educate, provide medical services to, or welfare for illegal immigrants because it causes legal citizens to pay extra money, and the funds must be used for exclusively legal citizenship holders....

my instructor marked as wrong in "But, although". I don't see what's the problem in using "but" and "altohough" together, and not sure how to make it correct. i tried to leave out the 'but', then it seems my ideas doesn't connected each other. what will be the best way to fix this error??

It is not incorrect, and it is common enough. The worst that can be said is that it is awkward-- it jerks the reader's brain around a bit. Re-think it: the first clause is partly redundant, because you have already said the same thing in the previous sentence.
