Transfer/transferring and waiting/awaiting ?

please consider this sentence


"Tom has to postpone his transfer/transferring for two weeks waiting/awaiting a decision to grant a work permit."


let's me know they should be (transfer or transferring) and (waiting or awaiting)?

please help me with your explanation.
