00I see in the dictionaries the word " Transcript" which means an official record of a student's work that shows the courses they have taken and marks/grades the have achieved. The dictionary says this word is used especially in North America. What words do people use in UK ? Please help me learn it.02br

00In the US, a report card is what you get each marking period. It gives your grades for the quarter/semester/whatever, or for the entire class, but only for what you took that marking period. Your transcript lists ALL of your classes, the semester you took the class, and your grade. 0-

0No, at the end of 10th grade, you get a report card, showing your grades in the classes you took THAT YEAR.02br

00If you are transferring to another school, you request a transcript, which shows ALL of the classes you took EVERY YEAR at that school and the grade you got in each.0-

0Thank you Grammar Geek , I understand now . In my country , normally we don't have transcript .We just have report card . For example , I am a 10th grader of School A , and now I want to transfer to school B , I just need to give school B my report card of grade 10 , no need to give them a transcript of from grade 6 to grade 10 ".02br

0Just as a side note, transcipts really are more important at the university level, but your high school (grades 9-12, or roughly ages 14-18) can be important in some circumstances, like a transfer or perhaps a scholarship application.0-
