Traditional

Some humanists see technology as a harmful force beyond their control-all the more intolerable because of its human origins. This attitude is part of the humanist's traditional focus on the past and unwillingness to embrace either the art or technology of the present.

About 'traditional', is it a modifier of 'focus' alone? Or does it modify both 'focus' and 'unwillingness'?

There is no way to judge what the writer is thinking, and either is reasonable. We must presume that if the writer wished to modify only 'focus', then s/he would have had the sense to re-order the sentence: 'the humanist's unwillingness...and traditional focus...'

Actually. the text in question has this in front:

For the past century some humanists have been at odds with technologists.

WIth this sentence, now you think 'traditional' modifies both 'focus' and 'unwillingness'? Or you still think it is ambiguous?

It seems now to be intended to modify both.
