trade surplus

With McCain, the economy is likely to become worse, which is what other developed countries want as they will benefit from cheaper goods made in the US due to stronger exchange rates. Of course, you can argue that if the US is their major importer, it will be a setback. That's true. I guess the bottom line is it depends on the net trade between the two countries. If the country registers a surplus on its trade with the US, the surplus will likely to increase as the exchange rate grows stronger.

Thanks, Avangi and Yoong Liat. Is it understood that " stronger exchange rates" means US trading partners have stronger currencies? Or should it be "weaker exchange rates"?

Also, are there any other mistakes?

Thank you.

I'd say 'yes' in relation to the partners getting more money in exchange for every US dollar.
