trade-in credit ??

Hi there,

I came across the words "trade-in credit" on the internet articles.

What I don't understand is this: do the company give the real money(cash) to the customers who use the service?

or dose that mean the company reduce certain amount of money/value from the payment of a new product?

If there's anybody who knows that, would you explain some for me?

Thanks a lot!
