Hi

Whats the difference between track and field and athletics in american English? Which is more common?

Athletics are broken down into light (track and field) and heavy (weight lifting and wrestling), so while ‘track and field are athletics’, only 'some athletics are track and field'. Based on the Olympics being world wide, I don't know if the terms are the same in USA as in say Canada.
