Trace back

Hello everyone,

Could you please tell me if we can use "trace back" in place of "date back"?as follows:

- This ancient castle traces back to 1000 years ago.

Hello everyone,

Could you please tell me if we can use "trace back" in place of "date back"?as follows:

- This ancient castle traces back to 1000 years ago.

Trace back is used when people are following a sequence of events going back furrther and further in history. A castle is only one thing, so it is not appropriate.
