I'm having difficulty with some prepositions:

This new hardware is compatible to pcs. Or

This new hardware is compatible with pcs.

When are you supposed to use to and with.

When a prepositional phrase functions as a complement to an adjective, as in your example, the preposition is selected by the adjective. I'm not aware of a rule governing when to or with gets selected, so you just have to 'commit to memory' as you encounter such expr

What about:

My thoughts are similar to yours. And my thoughts are similar with yours.

Don't they kind of mean the same thing?

Here only "to" is possible. I do sympathise with people trying to learn English prepositions. It must be a real nightmare.

No, not really. Just read as much as you possibly can and perhaps buy a good grammar book as well.
