Touch someone on the raw

Hi

Would you say that this is an everyday expression?

She really touched me on the raw.

Or

Am I touching you on the raw? What are you getting so upset about?

Thanks

Tom

To my knowledge, that is not an expression in English. I don't understand it. Do you mean the person touched you deeply in an emotional sense?

Certainly not in the US. This is the first time in my life that I have ever heard of it. Generally speaking, I find British expressions amusing or at least interesting, but this one doesn't appeal to me at all.

Something you do hear in American English is "That really touched a raw nerve." Could you be thinking of that?
