Touch of ..?

Hi
Please help me with this.

In our place when a person's English (mostly speech) is affected by his mother tongue, we say "His English has mother tongue influence (MTI)."

I don't know if this expression goes fine with the natives.

Can we say "His English has a touch of his mother tongue"?

We might say (if you're referring to the sound of speech)
"His English is spoken with a foreign accent"
"...with a French accent" etc
or (if they're known to be from abroad) simply "with an accent".
