Asked about “What is success?”, people will give a mountain of various answers according to each person’s perspective. It seems quite difficult to have an exact answer satisfying everyone’s opinion to this abstract question. While there are many arguments about this topic, generally, success means learning from failures and having self-confidence.
Before reaching your milestones, you have to overcome obstacles appearing on your path, and failure is inevitable in order for you to learn from mistakes. Success is originally from your failures which are not only lessons to enrich your knowledge but also another opportunity to fix problems in a new way. Many people can not help facing their failures because of their embarrassment, however, one mistake means one door opened to help you not to do the same mistake before as well as to put more effort to try another ways. Furthermore, the value of learning from failures is experience accumulated through your difficult times whether it is good experience or not. Thanks to those lessons, they also develop your growth mindset that make you flexible to deal with problems in many ways or think out of the box about challenges so as to find the solutions effectively, which make you different from other peers both at work and in society. As a result, this uniqueness leads to your successful career path and polish your reputation as well in the future. Thomas Edison, one of the America’s greatest inventors, the father of the landmark invention called light bulb, had 10,000 experience to find out that 10,000 ways was unable to create that invention.
While experience is formed by failures, personally, self-confidence is one of the most important qualities to get you right on a successful path. Some people always doubt about their talents or even their appearances, which leads them to miss their chances to show off who they truly are and what they are capable of. Because of their hesitation, people tend to avoid raising their voice or starting a conversation with a stranger. Self-confidence, on the other hand, is the power of your mind that encourages you to have faith in yourself such as your abilities and also attracts people by your attitude or your knowledge. It is imaginable that on TED talk videos, the motivators always look confident in front of their audiences who are persuaded to follow the leads instructed by the motivators. Moreover, a self-confident person is always actively ready to start up plans and also take the opportunities that come his way to strive the goals while others lacking of confident are afraid of saying yes to their chances.
To sum up, success is not a goal, but it is a long and challenging journey that requires not only experiences you have in your tough times but also self-confidence you have built by yourself. To gain both of them, you should spend more time practicing and improving yourself before accomplishing your dreams.
