Topic: In some cities people are choosing cars instead of bicycles, while in other cities riding bikes are replacing cars. Why is this the case? Which development do you think is better?

It is true that in many countries, people prefer to use cars instead of bicycles, while in other places the number of people using bikes more than cars. There are many reasons for this, and in my opinion, bikes should be used widely for many undeniable advantages.

Each choice has own reasons for their decision. On the one hand, cars are becoming more prevalent than bicycles in some countries because of its convenience and mobility. In comparison with a bicycle, a car is less time and energy consuming, allowing users to go a long distance irrespective of weather conditions such as heavy rain and scorching heat. Furthermore, cars are suitable in formal situations. A businessman with a luxurious suit and glossy shoes would look quite weird if he goes to an important meeting by bicycle. On the other hand, in some other countries, many people make an effort to replace cars by bicycles for some reasons. Firstly, the bicycle is an environment-friendly mode of transportation which produces no vehicle emission. Secondly, the price of the bicycle is affordable which is easy to buy a new one. The low income does not face to the difficulty of movement, although it only uses in a short distance.

As I mentioned above, it is clear that bicycle development is better for both the individual and society. One major benefit is that cycling has positive impacts on people’s health. For example, when citizens sit at their seat for too long, they are more prone to obesity. Moreover, beginning with using bikes for a short journey to work or school will be an effective way to build up fitness and improve individual’s health. The next significant advantages are that residents keen on using by bike are to protect the environment. Using bicycles may contribute to reduce the emissions of greenhouse gases eliminated from petroleum fuels vehicles and improve the global warming condition.

In conclusion, there are several main reasons explaining why there are differences in choosing primary conveyances among different cities over the world. It seems to me that it is better for residents to use bicycles as the main transport instead of cars.
