Very much- Greatly, considerably, to a considerable extent, immensely, to a great degree, extremely.
I enjoyed my meal very much.
I am very much looking forward to my vacation.

Excessively- Exceeding the degree that is normal or appropriate.
She works excessively long hours.
He drinks excessively.

Much- A lot, a large amount, to a great degree.
He doesn't get paid much.
She's doing much better.

Too much- More than is appropriate, more than necessary.
You paid too much for that car.
There's too much salt in this soup.

There is some overlap in the meanings and usages of these words. In your original example C could work, although it would sound old fashioned. If it were a mouse rather than a lion then B would work well.
