Too much

Can one use:
a. I pushed it too much.
instead of
a1. He pushed it too far.
a2. I pushed it too hard.
a3. I pushed it too often.
?


Can one use
b. I followed him too much.

instead of
b1. I followed him too far.
b2. I followed him too closely.
b3. I followed him too often.


I don't think (b) could have meaning (b2). I am not really sure it could have meaning (b1) either.
