Vocabulary

too far out/away

Hello,
Let's say that A and B are hunters. They are standing in the middle of the street and there's a huge yard in front of them. A spots a pigeon in one of the trees and tells B to shoot. B says:
- I can't take the shot. The tree's too far out/away.

I think that both out and away would make sense, but I think I'd go with away. On the other hand, the yard is enclosed and "out" could make sense too. What would sound most natural to you?

I have one more question for you. A and B are in the yard. A throws a rock and it lands on the street. B says: "That was a good throw. Can you throw another one further out"? I think out would work here, because A has literally thrown the rock out of the yard. "Out" is used in both examples and I am not the author. I do have a preference for "away" in both sentences.
