Vocabulary

tone (muscle)

A: Hey you look very skinny.

I think I can simply say "I'm planning to work out at the gym."
Can I also say "I'm going to strengthen(tone) my muscles to look bigger.

I want to know the correct use of "tone" when it's used as a verb.

moon7296 I want to know the correct use of "tone" when it's used as a verb. That is OK in the sentence you have written, though 'toning one's muscles' is a refining technique that will probably not make one appear less skinny; one needs to 'build one's muscles': enlarge them
