Tone down corporate symbols on your gift

Hi,

This is a passage about tips on giving gifts.

The sentence is "Tone down corporate symbols on your gift. Either make them very subtle or simply insert your business card with the gift."

I know that one should tear off the price lable before sending the gift. Does the sentence mean one should make the corporate symbol (brand or trademark?)subtle in order to show modesty or something? If so, inserting one's business card will not cover the trademark however. How is that?

Thank you for your attention.

I think it is more to make sure that the item actually gets used. Really blatant branding (unless it is for a 'cool' brand) puts people off using/wearing the item. Who wants to walk around as an advertisement for another company or have a paperweight with 'Blakes Truck services' stuck on their desk?

Ah,

Thank you nona. I got it. It refers to the fact that some company or organization like to give present carrying names of their company. Am I right? Thank you!
