“ Tom speaking” when introducing himself?

Hi,

It’s common to hear people introduce themselves when they answer the phone in this way:

Hi, this is ABC company, Tom speaking, how may I help you?

I'm wondering if it's as common to use speaking when we are the callers. I usually hear the following ways used:

Hi, it's Tom.
Hi, this is Tom.

I'd be grateful for any comments.

It could be used when calling, but I think it would be less common. You would usually use "Hi, Tom here" or one of your suggestions.

Thanks,

One more thing. When calling, is it acceptable to say:

My name is Tom
I am Tom

If the person does not know you, then it is OK to say "Hello, my name is Tom." You could also say "Hello, I am Tom," but it sounds a little too brief to me. If you are calling as part of your job, you could say "Hello, I am Tom from XYZ corp," which sounds fine.
