Tom performing on that stage

Are these sentences correct:

1) Tom performing on that stage looked like a man in trance.

2) Tom when performing on that stage looked like a man in trance.

3) He performing on that stage looked like a man in a trance.

4) He when performing on that stage looked like a man in a trance.


Could '2' and '4' be used if one is speaking only of one event, that is if Tom/he performed there once, or the speaker saw him there once?

They are somewhat anomalous. Too anomalous to comment on their correctness, in fact.

Performing on that stage, Tom looked like a man in a trance.

Nothing says how many times the speaker saw him (except that by logic it must have been at least once).
