Told me

They told me that the letter was faxed to you this morning. And

They told me that the letter has been faxed to you this morning. And

They told me that the letter had been faxed to you this morning.

Are both grammatically correct and useable?

Do they have different meanings?

I'd use simple past, unless there was some other past event between the act of faxing and their telling you about it.
