Hello,

We took off our shoes to avoid scratching the newly finished floors.
We took off our shoes so as to avoid scratching the newly finished floors.
We took off our shoes in order to avoid scratching the newly finished floors.

Is there any difference in meaning? Could it be that "so as to" is only common in BrE?
