TOEIC/ Within

The pianist' concert seemed very short, ____, the happy melodies had conquered the hearts of the audience.
A) just within three hours
B) for a whole three hours
C) within the space of three hours
D) although it tools three hours

The given answer is C. May I ask two questions here...
1. Why can't A and B be the answers as well? Why not?
2. Where is the conjunction in this sentence?

Please advise.

First, the punctuation of the original sentence is incorrect (there should be a semicolon, not a comma, after 'short'), so this question was not written by TOEIC staff. Second, the phraseology of both A and B suggest that the concert was rather LONG, not short (' just within '; ' a whole '), so do not agree with 'seemed very short'.
