Error Identification:

(A) The (B) sales company had (C) much more applicants than job (D) openings this month.

What should (C) be corrected to? Please advise.

I guess it is many more too, but much seems to play the role of adverb to modify more. Well...it beats me though. Any more help please?

IT should be many as the applicants are countable.

It would be much more if it were an uncountable noun ....you should apply much more paint.
