TOEIC Listening

Here is a TOEIC item for listening.

M: When are we going to report on the year-end bonuses?

W: (A) I heard that we're not getting any.
W: (B) The report will be due at the end of the year.
W: (C) I heard about that too.

The correct answer is (A), but I don't know why. If I were the man, I would say "Did you hear anything about the yer-end bonuses?". Then the answer A responds to that. To me, what the man said seems not related to the answer (A).

Do I make that out wrong?

Your first reaction was right. What M says is unnatural (because of the way 'we' is used)..

More natural is
eg M: When are we going to get the report on the year-end bonuses?

B is the most direct answer, but change the tense.
