TOEIC Error Recognition III

Mr. Kelly, who has been managed our department since 1993, is trying to dicsover who has taken equipment out of the company without permission.

Do I have to change has been managed to has managed or has been managing?

If she has managed our department since 1993, she started managing it up to now.

If she has been managing our department since 1993, it is clearer to know she will continue her job in the future.

Please advise. Thanks.

That would be good.

LC, I agree with you -they both sound fine. As a native speaker, I would use either, and I'd more likely to simplify and just say "has managed." If she is now doing an investigation, it's clear to me that she is still in charge.

both OK
has managed seems more direct, the other an overuse of present perfect continuous
