TOEFL Writing - Feedback

Some people believe that students should be given one long vacation each year. Others believe that students should have several short vacations throughout the year. Which viewpoint do you agree with? Use specific reasons and examples to support your choice.

All of people, especially students believe that vacation plays a very important part of our life. It’s essential that holidays contribute to the life balance for enormous homework as well as depression in schools. If students have given one long vacation each year, some people I’m sure that it is a great idea; other would disagree. In my view, one long vacation allows students to experience meaning periods for two important reasons.

The main reason is that having adequate time to visit relatives who lives far away. A so far distance among people, especially blood relatives leads to the difficulty to meet each other regularly. For this reason, a long vacation will help them connect better because they spend a lot of time staying together. For example, one of my friends is studying in a college in America where takes at least 24 hours to come back home. Therefore, she had not returned her home for 2 years because of very short holidays. She usually complains that she so misses her family. With living other country, she only communicates with them via social networking sites, and spends a few time for the difference of periods on a day between two areas. But, the previous year her college changed from short vacations to one long vacation each year. This allow her to get adequate time to visit her family as well as relatives in there. So that, she made a decision to book plane ticket to her home at the end of the year immediately. The period made her so satisfactory because she has wonderful moments with her loved ones. As you can see, one long vacations have positive effects on many people.

Another reason is that students get many opportunities to learn whatever they love through short programs which requires intensive certain periods. Nowadays, there is an increasing interest about short programs Chinese cooking program, short courses in colleges or meaning camps for youth. For instance, before I prepared to enter college, I have 2 months free. So, I registered a Chinese karate class in my location for near 2 months. Not only did it make a lot of like-mind friends, but also learned great lessons which help me defense myself from damages. This experience taught me that such courses are very beneficial to many people. Therefore, I support one long vacation yearly rather than some short vacations to able to take part in interested courses.

In sum, though some may like be given several short vacations yearly, one long vacation would be a great option to many students loving short programs or living so far to their home. It allows people to connect their relatives better and experience new things. Every country should encourage schools to give one long vacation instead of several short vacations.
