'A person should never make an important decision alone'.
Decision-making is a very important phenomenon in our lives. Every decision we make is extremely effects on our success, their magnitude varies from some daily trivial issues like where to buy a new jeans to which country I’d like to emigrate. Some people I’m sure think that it is better to make an important decision alone while others may disagree. In my view, it is always beneficial to consult other people such as family members, close friends and significant others before making any decisions for two important reasons.
The main reason is that consulting with other people, especially with parents, who have more experience in life may protect you from making some serious mistakes. For instance, a long time ago when I was 20 years old, I just wanted to drop out of university because I was tired of studying, tough professors and homework, it seemed like a hopeless endeavor. Moreover, I had a part-time job with no diploma as a system administrator in a small IT-company and really wanted to work full-time. In addition to this, I was completely satisfied with my life but I felt like I was doing something wrong. I was about to quit my education from the university, but, in this train of thoughts, decided to ask my parents for advice. As a result, they told me to stop being stupid and put my shoulder to the wheel, in other words, I should continue my studies because my father dropped out from a college in his twenties and couldn’t continue his education because he had no time and money for paying tuition fees anymore. For this reason, he can’t get a well-paying job without a degree. As you can see, their advice stopped me from making a huge mistake.
Another reason is that making a group decision gives us a chance to use many points of view and consider different aspects of an issue which will help us to choose the best decision. It means that one person has a limit on how many perspectives he can see. For example, when my friends Ana and Catherine worked in an employment agency as a human resources managers, they were always complaining to me about a lack of equipment such as a printer, a scanner and better computers because it was difficult to work fast in such severe conditions. Moreover, their boss never asked them about conditions and made decisions by himself referring to the fact that he better knows what his workers need. Under those circumstances the girls used an all-in-one printer in accounts department bothering other workers during a workdays. Nonetheless, they decided to complain about a lack of equipment to their boss and he was really shocked by hearing this information. As we can see, a consensus decision depends on hearing everyone’s opinion. This experience taught me that a group decision-making is better.
In sum, though some people may oppose my opinion, it is clear that consulting other individuals is more beneficial than making a significant decision alone. Not only will it help to protect you from making mistakes but also help to consider different aspects of a problem. This is why we should never make an important decision alone.
