TOEFL Test Listening Taking Notes

Hi,

I am practicing the listening section of toefl, and I faced many traps in the questions. I read many articles and watch training videos on YouTube, and all of them are saying things about active listening and and outline note taking. I understand what they mean so far. Yet, I need to know how should I take note. I wasn't completely successful in taking notes. I still miss some points to write or when I'm taking note, I miss some of the lecture or conversation.
I guess here we have many ESL teachers. How do you think I should practice? I know there is no pill, but I would appreciate it if you could suggest some efficient format for taking notes or a hint to make it better.

Thanks.

Yeganeh I would appreciate it if you could suggest some efficient format for taking notes or a hint to make it better. I can only suggest that you make notes of 'key phrases'. I realize that is vague and not very helpful, but that is indeed what you must learn to distinguish: the key phrases of a passage.

  • Mostly they are nouns, and in any case you should not try to write down full sentences, and generally do not bother to write numbers (which you can probably remember without notes).

Thank you very much,
Have you given any particular practice that help your student to improve themselves in the section?

PS I took Delta's model test, and I have two mistakes in the listening section of the test.

Thank you again.

I do not work on note-taking unless I see the student obviously trying to do too much and thereby missing other parts of the recording. In fact, I do not not work on vocabulary, listening, grammar or any other outside materials. My modus operandi for la

I would like to add that you can read some materials on note-taking in consecutive interpreting. As it has already been mentioned, writing key phrases in very important. Writing names, dates, etc., will help you remember the text. Omit prepositions, adverbs, adjectives unless they are an important piece of information.

You can drop medial vowels: build - bld, etc.
