Today is Sunday. / It's Sunday today.

Which sentence is correct?

1. Today is Sunday.
2. It's Sunday today.

If they both are correct which is better?

In the States, you will almost never hear anyone say "It's Sunday today." They would probably just say "It's Sunday."
