In 'Footnote to a Poem' translated by Barry Rubin is an syntactically unintelligible sentence: Apart from its possible effect on the postman, the line returns both the author and the reader to what love for that poet began with.
The meaning of the sentence is not unclear, but what structure is 'what love for that poet began with'?
FOR is a preposition here and THAT POET should be the object, but if so, BEGAN WITH seems to lack a subject; at this point I even doubt whether RETURN is a verb....I get confused...
