To wear sth on top

Hi,

my question concerns clothing.

If

"What will you be wearing on top?" means "What will you be wearing from the waist up?"

then what is the right phrase that would mean "What will you be wearing from the waist down?"

You could be wearing a shirt on top of (over) your tank top/bra/undershirt, too. Most people wouldn't ask your question. You could ask what kind of shirt, pants, shoes, hat, etc you're wearing.

ok. thanks, so no one would ever say e.g. :

- What are you wearing to the interview?

- A button-up blouse

- And on bottom?

- A skirt

(I need the question not to indicate what kind of garment will be worn from the waist down, be it a skirt, jeans or trousers)

You could, but it's a lot more likely to just ask what someone is wearing, or wearing for a(n) [insert article of clothing here]
