"to walk this earth" vs "who walked this earth"

Hi all.
Please read the sentence below :

"Rest in Peace to one of the strongest people to walk this earth."

Q) Is that correct? If yes, then if you would, please explain a bit why it is correct.

Q) Would it be more eloquent/correct if I say:

"Rest in Peace to one of the strongest people who walked(on) this earth."

MIG one of the strongest people to walk this earth. 'to walk this earth' is more like an idiom. 'to walk on this earth' is correct also, but the idiom is probably preferred.

  • MIG one of the strongest people to walk this earth.
  • 'to walk this earth' is more like an idiom.
  • 'to walk on this earth' is correct also, but the idiom is probably preferred.
  • It's not really that unusual, though, because you can also "travel a path" (instead of "travel on a path").
