To vs for

Which is right?

Please answer a question for me. or Please answer to me a question.

Please explain the rules for me. or Please explain the rules for me.

When will i use the preposition for and to?

In the dictionary it says for is used to say who is intended to get or use something or where something is intended to be used. To is used to say who receives something or is told or shown something. It seems to me both definitions are the same.

Pleas help me.
