To + v or v-ing

Hello
Take a look at these sentences:
- My wife and I discussed to buy a new house.
- My wife and I discussed buying a new house.

I think both are fine, aren't they?
Thanks

Can you tell me why?
And when we should place to+v and v+ing?

Some verbs (discuss, enjoy) take -ing only. Some verbs (want, need) take the to-infinitive only. Some (can, will) take the bare infinitive only. Some (help, like) take more than one or all 3 (often with different meanings). There are no rules; you must learn the verbs.

Thanks for your help
Can you give some more verbs that take -ing only plus "discuss" and "enjoy"?

I'll be appreciated.
