To use saw or watched

I want to share my review of a movie with a person. I am considering two options

1. "I saw a movie yesterday."
2. "I watched a movie yesterday."

Which one of the two is better? Is something wrong with either one of them? Please explain why one is better, if at all, over the other.

There is no rule. However, I think it is very common to see movie at a theater and to watch a movie (on TV) at home.
