To / up to

Could you tell me whether both of 'to' and 'up to' are right in the following conversation? Thank you in advance.


A: Excuse me. Could you tell me the way to get to the subway station?

B: Just walk along this street [to/up to] the main street and turn right. It's only two minutes' walk from there. You can't miss it.

Yes, both are used normally in British English.

However, 'as far as' sits better in the second sentence rather than 'up to' to my ear and as MM says, there are slightly better ways of putting things.
