To tick off about something

I don't know how to translate this sentence: If you come out not ticking off about something, you know you have done well.

I have found the meanings of "to tick sth off" and "to tick sb off" but what does "to tick off about sth" mean?

I would change this to:

If you aren't ticked off about something when you come out, you'll know you've done well.
