i have challenge using this phrase, kindly check wether the sentence is correctly indicated.

I think the sentence can be simplified:
"The different between the two is one is smaller."

To the extent:
An example
"I tried to persuade him to quit smoking to the extent that I even met each one of his friends to help him get rid of the habit."
