to the detriment of

Are these 2 sentence natural?

He's on the team to the detriment of another player. I had to choose between 2 players and I did.

I am married, have 2 kids. I can't risk losing that and have/by having her come live with me especially knowing there is no prospect of the situation improving. If I have to take her in to the detriment of my mariage, I won't have it.

Thank you

I almost always see 'to the detriment of a thing', not 'to the detriment of a person...'

eg . . . to the detriment of another player's career.
