To the best of my abilities

Hi

Would you say both ability and abilities work here?

I'm trying to deal with the situation to the best of my ability/abilities.

Thanks,

Tom

I would naturally say "ability". I would not say that "abilities" is actually wrong.

I would say the standard phrase uses 'ability'.

I suppose you could perhaps say 'abilities' if there are very, very clearly different abilities involved,
eg juggling chain-saws while playing the piano and performing brain surgery.
