To site vs to cite

I couldn't believe this!
The Dr. Grammar Frequently Asked Questions page


summarizes the exceptions thus, siting other rhetorical sources:

I didn't even know that "siting" was a word, but I now find it's quite common, meaning "to locate something on a site." (Not by a dam site.)

Wouldn't you say the usage in yellow is incorrect?

I would use "citing," meaning to quote something as an authority.
