to shun

According to the dictionary, to shun is a transitive verb. But then what is this expression
"to shun away from", which I often hear.

e.g.

Insurance fears lead many to shun DNA tests.

(can we say) Insurance fears lead many to shun away from DNA tests.

Hi, As written , this is just poor grammar. Actually, it's a matter of the wrong choice of word. They mean ' shy away from DNA tests'.
