I know that the expression "to shrivel to nothing" exists, but I am not sure of the meaning, and today I came upon this sentence: "the whole lot would shrivel to a candy floss nothing"

I guess you'd call "candy floss" a compound adjective.
I suppose the use of the article in "a nothing" is a lit
