To say Thank you

Hi,
Whenever people wish me luck on my job hunting or exams, I always respond with "Thank you." Just wonder if there is other ways that show I am really grateful and the kind words really what I need in the situation. I usually say "thank you for your kind words." or Thank you for your wishes. But I felt these responses are used when people are wishing birthdays to someone. Does it matter if people say "I wish" or "I hope". Will the responses be different?

For example, when people say I hope you will get a job soon, how i should reply. I know "Thank you" would do but I just wonder if there is any other ways.

thanks!

The polite response to a well-wisher is a simple Thank you. I would save more enthusiastic thanks for people who actually make suggestions or provide leads to help you. Otherwise, you might sound insincere.
