to reply to someone

Hello,
Would the following sentence sound odd to you: "I messaged her last night and she hasn't replied to me yet"? It sounds fine to me, but I usually hear "...hasn't replied to my message" rather than "me".

Your sentence is fine (assuming you're okay with using "message" as a verb). Personally, I'm old enough to prefer "I sent her a message . . . " "She hasn't replied to me" is fine.

I didn't know that using message as a verb was inappropriate. Hmm...thank you for pointing that out.

I wouldn't really say it's inappropriate. I think I'm just unusually old-fashioned in this case. It seems to be accepted in the various online dictionaries as a verb.

When I first started learning English, I used to use "send a message" all the time. I think my friends have influenced me in a way. Emotion: smile

"to me" is redundant, but not incorrect.

CJ is right (of course!!) -- you can also just say "replied."
