Vocabulary

to organize something

Hello,
Would it sound natural to say: "The local gypsies are organizing a fair on the 25th of June." or "The school of arts is organizing an exhibition/a concert next month."?
If organize what else would you say? Conduct, put together?

Top answer

Gene93 Would it sound natural Yes. Those are correct uses of 'organize'. 'put together' also works, but I don't recommend 'conduct'.

Please don't post everything in capital letters. In internet communications it indicates that you are shouting, and it is considered rude.

Also, do not post replies unless you are quite sure of your answer and its correct spelling.

The word is 'arrange'.

In Britain, the word 'gypsy/gipsy' is often felt to have pejorative overtones. Many people prefer to use the words 'Roma' or 'Romany'.

I have to admit that conduct sound odd to me too, but I can't think of a rule. It's more like perform or carry out. I am just guessing.
